During our walk through Harvard, we
came across a number of buildings that all “met” the sky in different ways.
There were some that paid little to no attention to the interaction while
others fanned out at the top, giving the effect that it was reaching out to
touch it.
But there is one building that I
immediately thought of when reading this question. I am fascinated with the
Hancock Tower for a number of reasons, and one of which is how it meets the
sky. It was intended to blend in by using a certain type of glass, which from
some angles, fools the viewer into thinking it’s almost see through. Much
thought went in to achieving this effect and it is most certainly successful.
Would it matter if the building were only 2 stories?
