Corey Gibbons - Zibaldone 4

Ravaged with jealousy, Vincent Frankenstein could not tolerate being overshadowed by his older brother any longer.  So what if Victor had brought a creature to life?  That creature also managed to ruin Victor’s life, so Vincent would be smarter and create an inanimate, permanent creation – a detail

Determined in constructing something more beautiful than his brother, Vincent set out and gathered whatever materials he could find.  Ferociously, Vincent began constructing.  He worked so quickly that at a certain point in the process, he did not even seem conscious of what he was doing.  But before he realized it, he was finished.  He had finally created something of his own.  It took a few moments for Victor to absorb what he had created – he appeared to be in shock – but when he fully understood what he had done, he slowly backed away and, like his brother, Vincent ran from the monster he had created.
