Being
here and not there offers vastly different experiences. And sometimes it does not. Therefore, knowing for certain where you are can
either be obvious or unclear. The
difference between here and there primarily exists in the built environment. Looking at the buildings and infrastructure
around you indicate precisely where you are.
Significant buildings in a city can serve as landmarks specific to that city,
which can be found nowhere else in the world.
However, not all cities are distinct from one another in their
architectural expression. More
specifically, then, roads and streets aid in defining a place; they are truly
specific to one location. Locating the
street you standing are on (and others that intersect it) and finding that
street on a map will show you where you are – here and not anywhere else.
