Jon Stras - Zibaldone Uno

Building, like art, reveal a great deal about the society that bores them. For example, I was walking through a recently finished building while on co-op doing some punch listing, when we came across one unit that had to be changed. The coaxial hookup was on a wall that would get direct sunlight that would cause a glare on the TV. The entire construction team had to come in and figure out a way to redesign the space. The television is not only something to consider when designing in the 21st century but actually the center of a room.
The house that my father grew up in was built in the 1930’s and whenever we visit I spend a miniscule amount of time in the living room, because there is no TV in it. Can you believe it? NO TV! This technological advance has become something that we must design for, and shows what is really important for our society.
